Bidder guide
How online bidding works
This demo mirrors the timed, extended-bidding style Bachmann already runs on Proxibid — catalog, lot clocks, increments, and soft close — on a site branded for the house instead of the marketplace.
- 01
Browse the catalog
Open a live or upcoming sale, skim lot photos and descriptions, and note pickup location and terms.
- 02
Place incremental bids
Each lot has a starting bid and fixed increment. Your bid must meet or beat the next minimum.
- 03
Watch the soft close
A bid in the final minute extends that lot by another minute, so last-second sniping doesn’t end the sale cold.
- 04
Pay and pick up
After close, settle hammer plus buyer’s premium (and tax where applicable), then remove items in the posted checkout window.
Why leave (or supplement) Proxibid?
- Proxibid’s public rate card runs roughly 2–5% commission on online hammer by category, plus per-event fees and payment processing.
- A house-owned platform keeps the brand, bidder emails, and most of the commission — you still pay card/ACH processors.
- Marketplace reach still matters for first-time equipment buyers; many auctioneers dual-list until their own list carries the sale.
This slice is a front-end demo (browser-local bids). Production needs bidder accounts, card authorization, clerk tools, invoices, and live/simulcast if you want floor + online together.
